Through intoxicating instrumentation and a spectrum of vocal tenacity, on new single What do I Want?, Sarah Walk lays bare her insecurities for all to see.
Tinged with anguish, the deftly layered harmonies create a serpentine listening experience, and it is this torment that is in fact Walk’s greatest weapon. Her ability to harness a harrowing sense of realism is refreshing – and through traumatic beauty, a bond is created. One of unrefined honesty.
The adoption of an electric charged defiance seems to have unlocked a part of Walk we have not previously witnessed. And despite the echoed pleading of ‘What do I Want?’ resonating throughout, an underlying sense of belonging appears. One that can only blossom.
Sophomore album, Another Me, is out on One Little Indian records on later this year.
