Julia Holter – Words I Heard
LA singer songwriter, Julia Holter, has released the second single from her upcoming record, Aviary.
Similar to the first offering, Words I Heard is a picturesque musical landscape through which Holter strolls – drawing on sources from Dante to Lebanese-American poet, Etel Adnan, for lyrical inspiration.
Aviary is out on 26th October through Domino Records.
Thom Yorke – Hands Off the Antarctic
Radiohead’s Thom Yorke has shared a new track, Hands Off the Antarctic, in co-ordination with Greenpeace as part of the organisation’s mission to protect the Antarctic Ocean.
He told The Independent- “There are some places on this planet that are meant to stay raw and wild and not destroyed by humanity’s footprint- this track is about stopping the relentless march of those heavy footprints.”
J Fernandez – Common Sense
The second album from Chicago’s kaleidoscopic pop aficionado, Justin Fernandez, is out on the 9th November and presents ‘a sunny shoebox diorama for the eternal pessimist’.
Common Sense, the second single from Occasional Din¸ is a two-and-a-half-minute curious melee of guitar twang and steely harpsichord that talks about examining every word of every sentence you’ve ever said.
Chorusgirl – In Dreams
London band, Chorusgirl, reveal a new track from their forthcoming second album, Shimmer and Spin – due out in November.
In Dreams is a song about feeling out of place. Strutting over a Twin Peaks-evoking baseline, it’s a coming-of-age anthem about dreaming yourself out of the small town you grew up in, but never felt at home in.
The Good Water – Tell Me What To Do
Birmingham psych-rockers, The Good Water, are back with their new single, Tell Me What To Do – a fuzz-powered three minutes of catchy retro-rock which showcases 60s pop melodies alongside some fairly fancy guitar work.
The track tackles the challenges of confusion, the misunderstanding of feelings and the inevitable heartache that follows.
