Interpol – Number 10
Interpol are back with Number 10 – the second single from upcoming album, Marauder.
Labelled as one of the loosest and most spontaneous tracks on the album, the song swirls on the anxious desire of a secret relationship, with its surf-inspired bassline, dueling guitars, and punchy percussion building up to an unrestrained, yearning finale.
Marauder is out on 24th August on Matador Records.
Spiritualized – Here It Comes (The Road) Let’s Go
Taken from the upcoming album, And Nothing Hurt, the latest single from Spiritualized, Here It Comes (The Road) Let’s Go, brings you everything you expect but desperately want from ex-Spacemen 3 frontman, Jason Pierce.
The delicate, melancholic euphoria – almost hymn-like – washes over a backdrop of horns, guitars and choir-like backing vocals, and is the perfect preparation for the upcoming eighth album.
And Nothing Hurt will be released through Bella Union on 7th September.
Phosphorescent – New Birth In New England
Matthew Houck, aka Phosphorescent, marks his return following the critically acclaimed success of 2013’s Muchacho with new nine-track record, C’est La Vie.
Lead single, New Birth in New England, is a five-minute snapshot of the world the album was conceived in – a bright, Americana matter built on new, happier and more content foundations.
C’est La Vie is out on Dead Ocean in early October.
David Ramirez – Watching From A Distance
Ahead of a UK tour in September, David Ramirez has dropped his new single, Watching From A Distance.
Produced by Sam Kassirer in rural Maine, the album sees Ramirez take on new influences, including Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty and The War On Drugs, which paints a vivid picture of contemporary America through the songwriter’s own perspective of having dual American and Mexican heritage.
UK dates include Newcastle, Glasgow and Leeds, plus a show at London’s Borderline on 7th September.
Album, We’re Not Going Anywhere, is out now on Thirty Tigers.
Calvin Johnson – Kiss Me Sweetly
K Record founder, Calvin Johnson, is back with the first single – Kiss Me Sweetly – from his new album, A Wonderful Beast.
The album, which has been co-written with and produced by The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney, is an experiment in sound. Calvin entered the Audio Eagle Studio in Nashville, TN. using the premise “Rock n roll Will Never Die” as a starting point. After meeting in 2005, the pair kept in touch, and recently Carney suggested they should make an LP record together – and the results are a primal record, which Johnson is ready to take on a world tour.
A Wonderful Beast is out on 12th October on K Records.
Sleaford Mods – Stick A Five in And Go
After releasing English Tapas in March- their first album since signing to Rough Trade Records, Sleaford Mods have today announced their new, self-titled new EP, Sleaford Mods, which will be unleashed on September 14th 2018.
The EP was recorded in Spring 2018 in Nottingham, and features five new tracks including lead track, Stick in a Five & Go. Other songs confirmed on the release are- Bang Someone Out, Gallows Hill, Dregs and Joke Shop.
The band are confirmed to play two nights at London’s Roundhouse on September 21 st & 22nd 2018, and also their biggest hometown show at Nottingham’s Concert Hall on September 30th.
“The lead tracks are mostly full of violent tendencies that only transpire through imagination. People are powerless under the political monster and the intense anger and frustration morphs into illusions of attacking each other through the bravado of social media, depression and paranoia,” lead singer, Jason Williamson, said of the new songs.
