Song: Patrick Watson – Lost With You review

by Philip Moss

‘I wanted to share this song with you. I hope it keeps you good company,’ states Canadian songwriter, Patrick Watson – realising that his fans, like the world alike, need a little pick me up what with all the craziness that is going on in the world at the moment.

Exactly one year on from his stunning sixth LP, Wave, this latest release finds him in similar sonic territory. Like the opening to a Jean-Pierre Jeunet film, creaking pianos ebb and swell, as the Montreal native’s trademark voice flutters up into falsetto and back again. While lyrically, it’s a pastoral affair, as he paints the picture of loving reflections; its gentle, choral refrains providing the exact tonic that we need in our lives right now – making Lost With You good company indeed.

Lost With You is out now on Secret City Records.
