Song: Mina Tindle – Give A Little Love review

By Dave Bertram

The theme of collaboration continues for Mina Tindle – a project moniker for French singer-songwriter Pauline De Lassus – on single three of album number three, SISTER, which is out in early October on the 37d03d label.

Give a Little Love, which follows Lions and Belle Pénitence, features the record’s producer and songwriter, Sufjan Stevens, adding depth to De Lassus’s skin-tingling falsetto; the chorus’ melancholic repeated plea, ‘Give me a little love,’ creates the most emotive pull of the three singles released to date.

Like Lions, the softer, stripped-back approach to arrangement allows the track to shimmer, falling away further towards the final minute to bring the delicate chorus of harmonies right up front. Carrie and Lowell is an easy comparison to make, but the similarities in some of the production, particularly Drawn on the Blood and Fourth of July, are difficult to ignore. Lovely stuff – roll on 9th October.
