Song: Lomelda – Wonder review

By Phil Scarisbrick

After a week that has seen a number of exciting new records, we got the news yesterday that Lomelda has new album, Hannah, set to be released on 4th September via Double Double Whammy. The Texas native – real name Hannah Reid – follows up last year’s M for Empathy, as well as the Covers EP she did with Hovvdy for a quickfire return.

Coinciding with the album announcement was the customary first single unveiling, with a first taste of Hannah coming in the form of Wonder. The track certainly lives up to that awe-inspiring title, with a vibrant, guitar-heavy soundtrack backing Reid’s joyful wail. That joy seeps out of every syllable we hear, as the vocals almost trip over themselves in order to get out. ‘Wonder is about working hard,’ Read says of the song. ‘It is my most fun song to play. And I got to play drums on it, so it’s my favourite Lom song forever. May it motivate you to move and smash like it does me.’

If the rest of Hannah follows in the same vein, then we should expect a brilliantly fun album hitting our speakers this September.
