Conor Oberst – No One Changes & The Rockaways

It is always great to hear new music from Conor Oberst, even when is as sad and desolate as the two tracks he unveiled this week. The stark, beautiful tracks will be given a physical release early next year as a 7″ double A-side, but can be streamed right now.

There is no news as yet about a new album, but these new tracks leave us excited to hear the follow-up to last year’s Salutations.

The Good, The Bad and The Queen – Gun To The Head

It has taken nearly eleven years, but we’re finally getting a follow-up to The Good, The Bad and The Queen’s superb eponymous debut album. Having recently unveiled Merrie Land‘s title track, we now get to hear another cut from the record in Gun To The Head. With the Tony Visconti-helmed record only a week away, this track only builds up our excitment.

The band will also be touring later this month, with warm up dates in working men’s clubs in the North East of England before heading to Glasgow, Blackpool and Hackney.

WH Lung – Overnight Phenomenon

Over the last couple of years, WH Lung have positioned themselves as something of an enigma. Bar the odd festival performance, the Manchester based band have kept a low profile – quietly working away on what will hopefully result in them announcing their debut album.

Overnight Phenomenon is the first music to appear since the double A-side of Inspiration! / Nothing Is.

WH Lung play Corsica Studios, London on 15th November, and Manchester’s Soup Kitchen on 13th December.

Julia Jacklin – Head Alone

We loved Julia Jacklin’s debut album – Don’t Let The Kids Win – so the news of the imminent release of her second album is very pleasing. The Sydney-based Australian wrote the new track while touring, describing it as “the musical equivalent of me just throwing my arms wide open and running into an empty carpark and screaming at the sky.”

The new album will be called Crushing, and was recorded with fellow countryman, Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, DZ Deathrays, The Drones). It will be released 22nd February.
