Ryan Adams – Baby I Love You

On Valentines morning, and without any fanfare or preceding press release to warn us, Ryan Adams posted the cover image to a song titled, Baby I Love You, on Instagram.

And no, it’s not that Baby I Love You, but a new, original composition that carries all the jingly excitement of a man who is seemingly over the breakup that cast its shadow over his previous LP, Prisoner.

There are no details, as yet, as to whether this song will feature on an upcoming album, but a 7″ single is available through PaxAm now.

Beach House – Lemon Glow

Instagram seems to be the in vogue way to launch new singles, and with the simple message of ‘Wishing everyone out there love tonight’, Beach House posted Lemon Glow– the first taste from their upcoming record.

With no more details than the record will be out in spring, it gives us time to enjoy the band’s first release since 2015’s double offerings of Depression Cherry and Count Your Lucky Stars, and last year’s collection, B-sides and Rarities.

Drinks – Real Outside

Cate Le Bon and Tim Presley (aka Drinks) have released the first single, Real Outside, from their upcoming sophomore album, Hippo Lite – named in honour of Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort, the small town in southern France where they recorded the album together.

Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox, with whom Le Bon is also currently writing, said, “I have not listened to anything except the new Drinks album. At first I was like, this is a mind fuck. Then I became addicted. It is totally brilliant.”

Hippo Lite will be released on 20th April through Drag City.

Mount Kimbie ft. King Krule – Turtle Neck Man

Recorded during sessions for 2017’s Love What Survives, the latest collaboration between repeat collaborators and friends Mount Eerie and King Krule is now available to stream online.

Previous team-up, Blue Train Lines, is also available on Love What Survives through Warp Records, as well as Secret Meeting’s monthly playlist which you can subscribe to here.

Preoccupations – Antidote

The artists formerly known as Viet Cong release the follow-up to their eponymous 2016 debut album on 23rd March via Jagjaguwar.

It is called New Material and features, well, you get where this is going. Following on from first single Espionage, they have shared six-minute new cut called Antidote. Given that this sophomore record only features eight songs, I think we can assume it won’t be the only song passing the five-minute length mark.

The Voidz – Pointlessness

In lieu of a new Strokes record, Julian Casablancas is treating us to a synth-pop/prog-rock trip towards new album Virtue.

The third single follows on from the Strokes-by-numbers, Leave It In My Dreams, and what sounds like a bad impression of a South African doing 808s & Heartbreak while auditioning for the Rocky Horror Show style QYURRYUS (yes, it’s that odd!).

The 15-track album comes out on 30th March through Cult Records and will be nothing if not intriguing.
