Karen O and Danger Mouse – Lux Prima

After taking on production duties on Parquet Courts brilliant Wide Awake album earlier this year, Danger Mouse has teamed up with the queen of New York’s underground, Karen O, on new track Lux Prima.

Coming in at exactly nine minutes long, Lux Prima is the initial release from a forthcoming and yet untitled collaborative release, which soars beautifully over a spacious futuristic expanse as Karen O chimes in exquisitely, giving the first insight to a marriage of two of the noughties’ most creative entities in a match seemingly made in heaven.

Grandaddy – Bison On The Plains

Grandaddy have released Bison On The Plains this week – a new song that will come out through Danger Mouse’s 30th Century Records.

The song, which is an outtake from last year’s album, Last Place is a song that means a lot to Jason Lytle – ‘I thought “BOTP” might make the cut for Last Place but it did not. Apparently it still had some baggage carried over from whence it came. I loved the words though… and didn’t want to give up on it… so it simply got shelved in some incomplete form until I could come back and spend some more thoughtful time with it. So here it is.’

Earl Sweatshirt – The Mint

Odd Future co-founder, Earl Sweatshirt, has been teasing a full return over the past few weeks. After performing at the Mac Miller tribute show, releasing the track Nowhere2Go and featuring in a short snapshot on friend Vince Staples’ outstanding FM!, he returns this week with new track- The Mint. His first single from upcoming album, Some Rap Songs.

The Californian hip hop star’s last album, I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside, was packed with unique observations – and one of the finest hip hop albums of the past decade. New single, The Mint, features the relatively unknown rapper, Navy Blue.

New album, Some Rap Songs, is due for release on 30th November.

Weezer – Zombie Bastards

River Cuomo and his merry band of punk pop misfits week announced the arrival of new single, Zombie Bastards, this week.

Taken from upcoming long player, The Black Album, it continues the trend of colour associated titles, and will be the first time in his career that Cuomo has written all the tracks on piano. It also features TV on the Radio maestro, Dave Sitek (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The OhSees, Liam Gallagher), on production duties.

The Black Album is expected in March 2019.
