Father John Misty – Please Don’t Die

Fresh from two hugely successful performances at the BBC 6 Music’s Biggest Weekend in Belfast, and All Points East festival in London, Josh Tillman returns with his latest release under the Father John Misty moniker.

Taken from the his highly anticipated album God’s Favourite Customer, which was released today, the latest single Please Don’t Die is more of what we have come to expect and love from Father John over the last few years. Enlisting the help of claymation specialist, Chris Hopewell, the accompanying video to the track deals with typically macabre fair, tombstones, skeletons and angels.

God Favourite Customer is out today through Bell Union (UK/Europe) & Sub Pop (Rest of the World).

Pusha T – The Story of Adidon

Just days after the release of his critically acclaimed new album, DAYTONA, which featured the diss track, Infared, that alleged Drake uses ghostwriters, the Canadian rap superstar hit back with Duppy Freestyle. But this feud doesn’t seem to be one that’s going to go away, as Pusha T has dropped another joint – The Story of Adidon – in response.

Over Jay Z’s The Story of OJ, Push delivers a scathing lyric which suggests adultery on Drake’s part, ‘A baby’s involved, it’s deeper than rap – we talking character, let’s me keep with the facts: you hiding a child!”

Whether The Story of Adidon is indeed from the same sessions that spawned DAYTONA, who knows? But the hip hop world eagerly awaits to see how Drake will respond this time…

Dream English Kid – Ophelia

After their debut offering, Swim In The Shallow, Dream English Kid return once more with Ophelia- another slice of gorgeous, Twin Peaks-evoking dream pop.

The Preston four piece have teamed up once more with producer, BLEICH4 (of Macclesfield based band, Grimm Twins), in Stockport, and Ophelia sees co-frontwomen Hannah Cobb and Marie Toase’s delicate voices intertwine beautifully over a hazy, ethereal soundscape.

Ophelia is available to stream now.

Underworld ft. Iggy Pop – Bells & Circles

A collaboration that fuses legends of British electronica and American hard-edged punk is always going to be an intriguing one, never mind that the artists in question are Underworld and Iggy Pop.

Following on from their surprise collaboration for 6 Music in Belfast this past weekend, the two pioneers release the seven-and-a-half-minute behemoth of a track, Bells & Circles. A sprawling fury filled monster that features Underworld’s driving sounds with Iggy Pop’s snarling spoken word delivery, hopefully this won’t be the last collaboration we see from these legends.

Black Midi – bmbmbm

London based noise band, Black Midi, have built a buzz through a series of live performances in London, including a support slot with Shame.

But this week they released their debut single, bmbmbm, through Dan Carey’s Speedy Wunderground label- following his Dogma style set of ten rules while completing the process, including – all recording must be complete within one day, with minimum overdubs and no lunch breaks.

bmbmbm is available on 7″ now through the Speedy Underground website, and is limited to 250 copies.

James Blake – Don’t Miss It

After successfully providing support to the king of hip hop, Kendrick Lamar, on his recent UK tour, James Blake this week releases Don’t Miss It – a collaboration with Dominic Maker- one half of Mount Kimbie.

Blake’s second release this year, following his January track, If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead, finds Blake in signature experimental form fusing a plethora of sounds to remain once more at forefront of new music. And with a huge festival slot at the Governor’s Ball New York ahead, this summer promises to be a big one for the London musician.
