New Music Recommendations – 14th June 2019

Looking for all this week’s hottest new music – all in one place? Well, here you go then with releases from Erin Durant, D.D Island, Swimming Bell, Berg, Julien Baker, Bat For Lashes and Murray A. Lightburn.

The fourth single from her upcoming LP, Islands, we think this one – Rising Sun – may be her best yet. The album is coming out through Keeled Scales on 21st June.

Sawtooth Sunrise is the new single from Brandon Rhodes aka D.D Island. Following his 2018 EP, Last Summer, this is taken from the songwriter’s debut full length, Lost Dog, which is out now.

We were put onto this wondrous artist by our friend, Paddy at Balloon Machine – and thank god we were. Got Things has been produced with Old Deakin (Lowpines), and is out now on Adventure Club Records. Swimming Bell is on tour in the UK now.

What If is the debut single taken from a collection written by Swedish artist, Berg, and The Horrors’ frontman, Faris Badwan. The album, Fake Love, is a collection of intimate lyrics and dreamy soundscapes – and it will be out later this year.

On the heels of her triumphant Matador Records debut Turn Out the Lights and the critically acclaimed EP as one-third of boygenius, Julien Baker is back with her first new solo recordings in almost two years. Check out Red Door and Conversation above.

Natasha Khan, aka Bat For Lashes, will release her fifth studio album Lost Girls in September and the Daniel star has released Kids In The Dark to whet our ears.

Murray Lightburn takes a step away from The Dears on his new solo album, Hear Me Out. The first single, Change My Ways, precedes a full UK tour for the Canadian who will be over here in September and October. Check out the Kevin Drew directed video above.
