Childish Gambino – This Is America

Actor, comedian, singer, rapper, director, producer, songwriter and DJ. The outlandishly talented, Donald Glover, this week returns under his musical guise Childish Gambino with the excellent This is America. The track features backing vocals from the likes of Young Thug and Savage.

Glover has again worked with director Hiro Murai for the This is America video, having previously collaborated with Murai on Glover’s outstanding TV series, Atlanta.

It promises to be a huge year for Glover, who having already starred and created the aforementioned Atlanta as well as having a role in hit comedy community takes his acting talents onto the big screen, re-imaging the role of Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo movie.

Glover will also tour as Childish Gambino, with huge shows at Bilbao BBK Live, Lovebox, Austin City Limits and two headline nights at Madison Square Garden all upcoming this year.

Tim Burgess – The Savages

The Savages is the latest track to creep online from Tim Burgess’ new solo album – As I Was Now – that was released on an extremely limited press for Record Store Day.

Having written and recorded the LP ten years ago with a bunch of celeb mates, Burgess had actually forgotten that the record had never come out. But, for a man who’s so ridiculously busy fronting The Charlatans, writing brilliant books, planning his upcoming record fair in Northwich, booking festival line ups and selling his home brand of Tim Peaks coffee, we’ll forgive him on this occasion.

Tim will be supporting Ariel Pink at upcoming dates in Manchester and London in August.

Luluc – Heist

Brooklyn duo, Luluc, release the first single from forthcoming album Sculptor, in the form of the hymn like Heist.

The duo’s third album has drawn an army of very impressive contributors, including J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr and The National’s Aaron Dessner. After impressing us during their support slot for The National on last year’s UK tour, we are keen to here Sculptor in full.

Sculptor will be released on July 13th through Sub Pop.
