Julia-Sophie – xOx

by Philip Moss

With forthcoming EP, Y?, on the horizon, songwriter, Julia-Sophie whets our appetite with xOx – the first taste from the former Little Fish and Candy Says’ member’s newly formed world.

Underpinned by electronics that recall fellow Oxford native, Thom Yorke, xOx’s hypnotic musicality is in stark contrast to its addictive, monochrome vocals – which see the songwriter rip herself open and bare all on this addictive cut. Cool and twisted in equal measures – this is an exciting debut release.

Y? is out on cassette on 24th April. Julia-Sophie plays Oxford on 29th February, and Brighton on 7th March.
