‘I’m tired of people… hands over ears – eyes down,’ Hannah Ashcroft sings on new single, Under The Static – as she realises that the best way to combat the moment when social anxiety kicks in is by channelling it into song.
Considering the brilliance of her 2019 single, Landfire, our hopes for Under The Static were already high. But here, the Manchester based artist has more than surpassed them with a grooving pop song that features members of The Travelling Band and B.C Camplight’s group. The track is built upon an addictive guitar loop, which – when paired with Ashcroft’s airy double tracked vocals – suggests you should very much keep your eyes and ears open to this ever improving songwriter over the coming months.
